Day 2 - At the job site.

Our day started at 6:45am…which would be 4:45am back home… wow….  We had a brief meeting/orientation and then breakfast at 7am.  After breakfast, our orientation continued as we learned camp rules, job site rules, and most importantly, we learned about the families that we’d be helping.  There are about 20 volunteers here this week and for those of you that dont know, there are new church groups that come each week to this camp. There is a lot of information that I should give you about the “camp” - AKA “MERCY RESPONSE” - but I’ll have to do that later. :)

Anyway, the volunteers are split up between 6 job sites this week.  I have been assigned to work with my crew chief - PASTOR FLOYD BUTLER - and Laurie Fig from our church. We are working on “Angelines” house this week (the job site is named for the home-owner) and we are starting to do some finish-work on the house.  Today I used some gunk to plug nail holes in window sills and doorframes so that we could prep for paint.  Fun..  :) Laurie and Floyd caulked the window sills & door frames.

We were also able to meet Angeline (the homeowner) and she is a delight!  She is SO excited to get back into her house and can hardly wait.  She said that even if she only had a bed, bathroom, stove and refrigerator, thats all she’d need, as long as she was home. Today she sat and waited for the Roto-Rooter man for most of the day, while we worked.  Poor thing.  But she just sat outside with her neighbor and laughed and smilled and talked about how excited she was to come back home and stay there for good.

Today was a good day…
